Sažetak: Geoparkovi predstavljaju međunarodno značajna područja geološke baštine koja čuvaju zapise o evoluciji Zemljine kore, geodinamičkim procesima i klimatskim promjenama, te imaju važnu naučnu, edukativnu i društvenu funkciju u kontekstu upravljanja prirodnim rizicima i održivog razvoja. Pored zaštitne uloge, geoparkovi sve češće postaju integralni dio turističke ponude kroz razvoj geoturizma, koji povezuje očuvanje prirodnih i kulturno-istorijskih vrijednosti sa socioekonomskim razvojem lokalnih zajednica. Predmet istraživanja u ovom radu jesu prostorne, prirodne i funkcionalne karakteristike Geoparka Kula (Turska), sa posebnim osvrtom na mogućnosti i ograničenja njegove turističke valorizacije. Primjenom komparativne analize geopotencijala, pratećih kulturno-istorijskih resursa, geografskog položaja i infrastrukturne opremljenosti utvrđeno je da turistički potencijali Geoparka Kula značajno prevazilaze postojeći nivo njihove upotrebe. Rezultati istraživanja ukazuju na potrebu sistematskog unapređenja turističkog vrednovanja, promocije i upravljanja geoparkom, u cilju jačanja njegove uloge u regionalnom razvoju. Rad ima teorijski i aplikativni karakter.

Abstract: Geoparks represent internationally significant areas of geological heritage that preserve records of the evolution of the Earth’s crust, geodynamic processes, and climate change, and they perform an important scientific, educational, and societal role in the context of natural risk management and sustainable development. In addition to their protective function, geoparks are increasingly becoming an integral part of the tourism offer through the development of geotourism, which links the conservation of natural and cultural-historical values with the socio-economic development of local communities. The subject of this study is the spatial, natural, and functional characteristics of the Kula Geopark (Turkey), with particular emphasis on the opportunities and limitations of its tourism valorisation. By applying a comparative analysis of geotourism potential, associated cultural-historical resources, geographical position, and the level of infrastructural development, it was determined that the tourism potentials of the Kula Geopark significantly exceed their current level of utilisation. The research results indicate the need for systematic improvement of tourism evaluation, promotion, and management of the geopark, with the aim of strengthening its role in regional development. The paper has both theoretical and applied relevance.
